Shaun Palmer Bio

The original snowboard rebel who pushed boardercross to prominence is coming to WX "alone and pissed." Once considered one of the best athletes in the world (in a multitude of sports), Palmer recently quit the U.S. Snowboarding Team, broke up with his longtime girlfriend and barely missed out on the 2010 Winter Olympic Team. It's all a perfect storm for "the Palm" to get back his bad attitude, which is usually what it takes for him to win. The oldest rider in the SBX field by eight years (42, also the oldest snowboarder at WX '11), he's competed at 11 Winter X Games (21 starts in 4 different sports, 7 different disciplines total) and has six gold. But the last time he was on a WX podium was 2001, when he won UltraCross with Hiroomi Takizawa.
